Optometry Giving Sight

Currently, more than 600 million people are blind or visually impaired due to no access to eye examinations and lack of vision correction, like a simple pair of eyeglasses.

Optometry Giving Sight wants to change this for the better, and so do we.

Optometry Giving Sight is a global organization that helps improve and, in some cases, return vision to people. Since 2007, they have allocated or disbursed more than $6.5 million (U.S.) to 57 projects in 32 countries, helping to provide basic eye care services to over 4 million people, training more than 2,614 mid-level eye care personnel, and supporting the establishment of more than 1,100 vision centres and optical laboratories.

Their aim is to help prevent blindness and impaired vision by providing something many of us take for granted: access to a professional eye examination and corrective lenses.

To help further this worthy cause, CooperVision employees around the world donated $47,137.86 as part of Optometry Giving Sight’s World Sight Day Challenge 2012. This amount was then matched by CooperCompanies, our parent company, and increased to $100,000. In addition, CooperVision is also an ongoing Platinum Global Sponsor.

We’ve made it easy for you to help, too. We've invited those people who purchase contact lenses using a rebate to donate a portion, or all, of his or her CooperVision contact lens rebates to help Optometry Giving Sight continue their work.
